new group | new blog

Here's to the SUNY New Paltz Graphic Design Thesis class 2008-09 ... our theme this round is global citizenship: what does it mean to be a world citizen and designer? We have all experienced at least one, if not all three, of these roles: local, tourist, emigrant. What can we learn from this in terms of communicating with and connecting with the world beyond our corner of upstate New York?

Everyone should look into and/or read this book by Steven Johnson titled Emergence: The Connected Lives of Ants, Brains, Cities and Software. He graduated with a degree in semiotics from Yale and is an awesome writer. The book is about emerging systems in our world and why we can only understand them on a micro level.

Also, check out Fark.com, its all true news, but most of it is so funny it doesn't seem true.

hey Shawn

I can't seem to do this with the comupter at home (may be a cookie thing or my sw), but if you could create a sidebar for people to put their recommendations into that would be great. Whenever I try to add a feature to the blog I get
"can't process that request now." If you think print media should be separate from a list of URLs, separate 'em, and maybe people should be in the habit of following their recs with their initials, like (SSK).

Big thanks,
Anne
